
Lovran
positioned in specific mikroclimate area defined by
mountains and the sea at the same time. 1396 m high
Mt. Učka,whose slopes reaches the very coast,is very
rich in diverse kinds of vegetation. It is a protected
area-natures park. Located by the sea with very high
island of Cres close, are the other factor for this
specific climate with more than average number of
sunny days and relative low annual rainfalls.
Mean
summer temperature of 22°C makes Lovran very pleasand
during summer oppresive heat, and mean winter temperature
of 7° brings extremly mild weather.
The
sea temperature varies from minimum 9°C in winter,
to maximum 26°C in the summer.
Caracteristic winds
for this area are bora, which blows from the north
east, bringing clear and dry weather, the south wind,
the sirocco, brings rainy and humid weather, and in
summer the maestral from off the water brings a freshness
that mitigates the humidity and heat.
This
kind of climate is very effective at vegetation. Abundant
of mediteranian greenth grows rank in coastal zone;
lauriel, pines, cyperus and oak. Forests of sweet
chestnuts, maroons, are another symbol of Lovran who
made this idillyc place worldwide famous. At the slopes
above Lovran,in terrace gardens very well grows vine,
cherrys and olives.
